This radon test kit contains the accurate Rapidos detector and all the items needed to conduct a short-term radon test.
A short-term test, performed over a period of at least 10 days and up to 30 days, is a great preliminary test that will allow you to see an immediate radon level to make an early determination if an extremely high level needs to be fixed or if a borderline result needs additional testing.
If you are interested in a long-term test kit, see our Radtrak2 long-term radon kit.
Deployment instructions for a short term radon gas testing
(These instructions are also included in the kit)
Short term measurements lasting between 10 and 30 days should be made under closed-building conditions.
- Windows on all levels and external doors should be kept closed (except during normal entry and exit) for 12 hours prior to and during the measurement period.
- In addition, external-internal air exchange systems (other than a furnace) such as high-volume, whole-house and window fans should not be operating.
- However, attic fans intended to control attic and not whole building temperature or humidity should continue to operate. Combustion or make-up air supplies must not be closed.
The best in DIY radon gas detection technology
The Rapidos radon detector is a high-quality alpha-track technology detector that is best suited for a short-term radon measurement for your home, school or business. Rapidos is manufactured by Radonova Laboratories, global leaders in radon detection technology.
Radonova uses the world’s most demanding radon measurement technique. We offer the best and most modern solution. This is why, to date, we have produced and analyzed more than four million radon detectors used worldwide.
How it Works
The kit comes with an accurate radon gas detector and simple-to-follow instructions. You will place it in your home for at least 10 days and up to 30 days. Thereafter, it will conduct an accurate test that will take into account all of the daily fluctuations in radon levels and provide a true average concentration of radon gas.
Once you have deployed the device for 10-30 days, you will need to send the radon detector back to the lab for analysis for no extra analysis fee. Note that you will be responsible for the shipping cost of sending the detector back to the Radonova labs. We have provided a pre-addressed envelope in the kit so you are ready to go. Results are reported in Canadian units of Bq/m3.
Price includes laboratory analysis fees.
The detector will be analyzed at Radonova’s ISO 17025-compliant and Canadian C-NRPP-accredited laboratory. You will then get your results within one week by email. Results will also be available 24/7 online on RadOnline web portal, accessible using login credentials provided with the kit.
